Wine to pair with Xinjiang (Chinese) cuisine



We have a cracking Xinjiang restaurant nearby that serves excellent spicy Chinese food. What wine would you pair with it?

I am thinking Riesling or Pinor Noir?

Dishes include:

  • Lamb shish noodle
  • Chicken with green chilies
  • Stir fried aubergine



Or a Gewürztraminer… definitely thinking Alsace


Gewurz, riesling kabinett/older spatlesen, off dry chenin/vouvray.

Or arguably the best match of all: beer.

As always the advice for matching food and wine is ‘Go with what the locals would drink’…so fake Ch Lafite :rofl:

on a more serious note - Gewurtz for me


So one of these then, one of the more exotic wines I have tried!!


I liked this wine a lot, will re-order.


I had it from another vintage and it was very good. The Wachau should be anyone’s first stop for Austrian Riesling and GV.
