I may have missed it, but I can’t find one of these.
Kicking off with a free wine order and some halves (less “for the season” and more because Christmas seems to be the only time TWS has a good range of halves)
And then UK Store – Le Grappin in preparation for next Thursday.

Followed by perhaps a little taster box (LRA heavy, I know)….just seeing if L&W can fulfil before Xmas before placing the order.

I shall keep things crossed for you, but I’d not count on the “sold by client” wines appearing any time soon!

So I have done something rather rash again. Maybe it was the advertising on Facebook, or just the itch in the wallet but I bought the “declassified Bordeaux” gift box from Vineyardsdirect.
Although I haven’t taken a photo of it today, here a generic stock photo:
A brief inspection shows that they are Sichel sourced - but what are they exactly? The claim is that they’re from some of the top Chateaux but that could be anything really? I’m hoping to have a bit of fun guessing and working it out, but am inherently curious to find out if I can work out what is what.
If nothing else, it’ll be a bit of fun for me and my Dad when we open and taste them.

Quick visit to Whisky Exchange (Borough High Street) to replenish stocks of Cremes de Mures Sauvages (Boudier) for our preferred glass of kir - to be employed with the case of Cheverny Domaine de Salvard that is due to arrive tomorrow.

Did not intend to come home with 2x bottles of Campbeltown whisky - Springbank 10 / Longrow - have @lapin_rouge and wise recommendation of Campbeltown Loch to blame for that slippery slope…. thank you

Very lucky to find the ten …!!

Been looking for a while… empty space on the shelf next to the Longrow - I mentioned it at the till which brought forth a bottle from the back room… clearly they are holding it back for drinkers rather than flippers
Deff as it’s not on the website either …. Prohibition tactics
Try the kilkerrans too they have a 12…16 and heavily peated

I’ve wondered about these from time to time. I’ll be fascinated to hear if they’re actually good.
This arrived today
Some Vin Santo because Christmas - should be nice with fruits / nuts / cheese
Some Argentinian Jurancon because ‘what on earth will that be like?”, but Mendel generally very tasty in my experience
And 2 single bottles from reserves because I was very fortunate in the Burlottery and don’t fancy losing at Reserves Musical Chairs (phrase stolen from another forum). Straight to the back of the bottom shelf of the cave.

I’m still waiting on some Clos du Marquis and Imperial GR….3 weeks and counting now

Point of order here, but those are Petit Manseng bottlings, not Jurançon.
(Because they could equally also be Pacherenc du Vic Bilh, Saint Mont or Irouleguy. Indeed, my recollection of the SW varieties in South America is they were likely introduced by Basque, not Gascon, settlers. Sorry for the unnecessary pedantry
).

I’ll let you know - a quick flick through the Sichel website says that these vintages will cellar for up to 10 years, so I would think there’s a decent pedigree behind them.
I did see someone mention it could be declassified Angdulet somewhere as the Margaux. Whether this is true or not, I’d need to investigate further.
Need to get my hands on half a bottle of Angdulet to compare it and see if it matches!

Blimey - unicorn whisky! I have not seen Springbank 10 in the wild for years now !
We drank a bottle of the Dalamara 2018 a week or so ago and it was pretty luminous. Slightly better on the second night though, so might be a candidate for decanting.
Edit: as mentioned in the Original post
….a bit optimistic with my bids at wine auctioneer😀
