We’ve been chatting in the office, and we would love to hear from you about what would be your dream wine to receive for Christmas this year.
Me personally, I would quite like to try Château Climens, Barsac 2016

1982 Champagne Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque. The pretty painted bottle and a fabulous champagne never to be repeated. And seeing as it’s a dream, let’s make it a magnum ?.
Ideally I’d also have access to a time machine back to the same year - but I appreciate that might not fit into the Christmas stocking
No hesitation here, a bottle of Pera Manca red Cartuxa | Pêra-Manca red 2015, DOC Alentejo
I had one, once. You were allowed to buy one; just one, if you a) visited Cartuxa and b) went on the tour.
I put it by in the wine store in my French place to have on my 60th. Not saying if that’s been and gone or still to anticipate, but long story short, ToH’s Portuguese cleaner nicked it just before she was given her marching orders for other misdemeanours.
So I never did / will never get to taste it let alone have a bottle to enjoy. I’ve got over it, and still see this person in the streets hereabouts and exchange pleasantries and hope she got a good price for it… !
Haut Brion from a good year!
This has been on my bucket list for ages…
Hope someone out there is listening…
I’d be happy with either a 1947 Huet Moelleux (any of the cuvees, I’m not fussy) or a chance to try a madeira from the 1870s. In each case they should still be delicious drinking, and each sip is a bit of history.
I’ll just grab my pen and start doing santa a note on how good I’ve been this year…
Le Ragnaie - Brunello di Montalcino!
Nothing too out of the realm of possibility, but it has been on my wishlist for some time.
Will accept a first growth BDX as a replacement…
De Vogue Musigny Blanc. The only way I’ll ever get to taste it…
That of their Musigny red if Santa has troubles sourcing the white.
1976 Joh. Jos. Prum Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese. I reckon it would still be ok and I’d be happy to take the chance as it is a stocking filler
As they were half bottles, one each of these please…
…just for curiosities sake as, no doubt, I drank them far too soon !
Well, I guess it’d have to be Petrus from one of the great years… 1989, 1990, 2000, etc
But more seriously (!), I really want to try 1986 Mouton Rothschild one day. It’s my birth year, and apparently the best of the 1st growths from that year (along with Lafite).
Currently trades at £5,500ish for a 6 bottle case… I’d have to be a very good boy for Santa!
Quinta do Noval nacional. 2011 if I’m being picky (To then drink in 2050!).
Never tried, and considering the price will almost certainly never own
Sassicia 2009 or Dominus 2012 would be so nice.
I tasted a 1961 Chateau Palmer once at a L&W evening (back in Richard Wheeler’s day) and I would love a bottle to cuddle up to for old times sake!
If we are talking completely out of the realms of possibilities I’m going with any of DRC’s 9 Grand crú ! (As you can see I’m not fussy).
