So I was distracted from bottle labels but here is the stollen! Luckily I had already made some marzipan for the Algarve Tart so time was saved on the stollen marzipan
Looks fab…!
Mmmm… Stollen…
I love stollen but can’t bear marzipan. Shops here in England only seem to sell it with the vile addition, while in Germany I’d say it’s about 50/50 with/without.
Easy solution A moment’s search yielded this marzipan free recipe
Yeah so the recipe I used allows you to omit the marzipan as its just a layer along the middle then you fold. https://francoisekitchen.com/stollen/#wprm-recipe-container-2894
I’ve had a week where it felt like every day was melding into the next. I have Lockdown/Covid/World Fatigue. However I’m trying Disneyplus and have been working my way through the Marvel films. Sometimes you don’t want the brain to work too hard. And the Thor movies are priceless.
But the weekend is here, daughter is very happy at that and is bouncing around.
I’m going to broach a nice bottle of sparkling shiraz tonight. Looking forward to the slight oddness. I’ve had sparkling red before, actually in Italy where it’s more common.
They are the perfect antidote to everything right now. Thor 3 is one long laugh, hope you enjoy it.
My other discovery has been Lego Jurassic Park on Netflix, my 2 year old enjoys it and I may be addicted!
Erm… do you need anyone to be in your bubble…?
I’ve also succumbed to Disney+. As a new parent, I felt it was my duty and responsibility to have it (even though the boy is far too young to understand any of it…).
I think The Mandalorian is tailored to tug at the heartstrings of any new dad.
Mrs A - “Are you crying at a baby yoda!?”
Me, in gruff, manly tones - “No, don’t be ridiculous. It reminds me of the time you falsely accused me of shedding a tear during Toy Story 3 - utter nonsense…”
Does it to me every time.
Making blinis and listening to the Community’s playlist on Spotify.
Looking for my head torch 'cause there’s some massive fog parked outside. Will go out if I can find it.
Be happy, happy and more HAPPY!!
The day is in front of me, after a late rise.
Spotted these yesterday, as shopping for my weekend Tesco delivery.

A gift for a mate of mine, £7.50 each with your Tesco Clubcard.
“This is the way”
Didn’t realise all those beers were connected to Marstons.
Have a great day!!
Some Guigal Brune et Blonde 2015 should lubricate the celebration nicely!!
A day of sanding and re-oiling the kitchen worktops for me today. I’m starting to think that Sisyphus had it easy compared to being upsold wooden worktops in IKEA. At least I have Johnny Cash for company on the speakers, though I wouldn’t put it past The Man in Black to make an appearance himself if I inhale much more of the solvents in the worktop oil.
PLEASE be careful with solvents.
Several colleagues of mine from the Petrochemical Industry suffered damage, due to being sloppy in not using fume cupboards as they should have. A quality facemask and good ventilation/fans is a must. Not hectoring, just concerned advice.
More boxes to sort, and a Tesco delivery - yes, I know; poor me!!
Ha! Fab looking cake - and lucky you, presents-wise, indeed! Hope you have a lovely birthday
