The best WS bottle (own bottling) that you ever tasted?

#1

Mine was a WS Hermitage bottling from the late 1980’s.
Opened Christmas morning and I left it in the dining room to breathe.
When I returned around half an hour later the room was filled with a raspberry aroma and later on the palate was again pure raspberry with a discernible touch of smoke, masculine and silky,. How could that not fail to impress, and I would love to experience that morning all over again. I seem to remember that when I rang thr Society in the New Year it was out of stock, but there again it must have flown of the shelves.
More recently the Societies Exhibition Cote de Brouilly 2015 was for the money, quite exceptional value.

Great topic! I’ve been blown away by the value of the exhibition wines…i’ve got some of the top end ones to open still like the margaux and haut medoc but amongst the bottles which really wowed at get-togethers were the rioja, Chilean merlot and Argentina malbec…all around the 10-12 quid mark. Can’t wait to open the exh.pomerol!

Love to see a couple of extra special bottles added eg exh.gevrey-chambertin, auslese and maybe even a wildcard like a chinese cabernet.
