Sancerre then and now

Thirty years ago Sancerre with a blackcurrant taste could be found (Saget, Archambault).
Since then much Sancerre has become generic sauvignon. Does the old style still exist?

Christmas wines

Sadly I think not. I think many producers felt the need to compete with New World by changing its style. I’d love to be proved wrong…I’d buy some.

In her white wine review Jancis Robinson claims that the WS Cuvée Silex Sancerre has ‘more than a hint of blackcurrant leaves’.

I was reading the same article and had the exact same thought. I also tried it and was well impressed.

@szaki1974 @Richard Thanks for the recommendation. Looking forward to being proved wrong.
