Red Wine evening with friends

#1

I’ve invited a group of friends for an evening of red wine tasting. Yes I will provide a buffet selection but emphasis will be on the red wine. Thinking of 6-8 tastings, spending about £10-15 a bottle. (will go up to £20 for one or two if they are worth the extra). We all like spanish and also enjoyed a bottle of Grand Arte Alicante Bouchet 2006 last weekend. Happy to try other areas though. Do you have any suggestions. Help greatly appreciated as I want to expand our repertoire.

Thanks in advance.

My suggestions, for what they’re worth, are…
Lovely Spanish Grenache

Santa Rita Carmenère

Porta 6 Reserve (Touriga Nacional blend)

This Ribera del Duero

And for something slightly different…
This delicious Zweigelt blend

And this Teroldego/Lagrein blend from the Dolomites

Hope it goes well! :+1::blush:

I would just go with @Inbar recommendations and you won’t be disappointed

Recent highlights for me that could go down well at a tasting include these…

  1. Rave reviews from me and others in the community - Rapsani
  1. A full and ripe fruited Cabernet Franc…
  1. Southern Rhône red with some bottle age and drinking well now…
  1. Close enough that it’s almost Spanish

Have fun!

If you like Spanish wines why not just pick 6 of those. Then the food can be tapas.

There’s a great selection at TWS.
