Pomerol 1982

#1

THi all,

Got this a little while back. Worth holding on to or one to be enjoyed (hopefully) this Christmas?

Some really good Bordeaux on both banks in 82. However some start to fade after decanting. I’d probably drink at Christmas, and ponder if you had bought a case…

Wow! Although 1982 was an exceptional year for most properties in Pomerol, this one is most likely past its best. Nevertheless, something to look forward to this Christmas even if it does not live up to your expectations. I would not decant this as it could lose anything it has to offer on the nose very quickly and will also taste flat (rather than complex and silky) on the palate after that.

What a treat! There are a few relatively recent tasting notes on Cellartracker:

Looks like it’s still drinking pretty well!

Wine that age should be drunk quickly once opened. It doesn’t need time to breathe as once it hits the air it could take a turn for the worse.

Open it, pour, cross your fingers and drink!

Enjoy.
