Ooh I do love Madeira so cant wait for this tutored tasting in October.
I initially was drawn to Madeira for its ‘indestructibility’ - the ability to open a bottle and not worry when you might have the next glass or rest of the bottle - but I quickly realised what a delight it was with the cheeseboard, a mince pie or rich fruit cake or simply by its complex and contemplative self .
I’ve drunk mainly the sweeter styles (Bual & Malvasia), so will be interested to learn more about the drier Sercial and other variations.
This one was a hit at a BYOB dinner earlier this year and I swiftly stuck 6 more into my reserves…
