McManis, Petit Syrah - on the nose the wine oaked with lots of extracted red fruit lots of jammy fruit especially plums.

We have been to Stags Leap Cellars and met a rattle snake. Great property and lovely wines.

Au Bon Climat Knox Alexander 1999.

Had a disintegrated cork. Very slight bricking, but basically standard oldish pinot noir colour.

Stewed fruit, and a lot of spice. Got a distinct whiff of alcohol when I poured, but it seems to have largely blown off.
