Can anyone recommend good wineries in the Lake Balaton area? I will be travelling there later this month and would like to make 1 or 2 visits / tours to good wineries. Can anyone recommend particularly good wineries for a visit / tour?
One for @szaki1974 as our resident Hungarian wine specialist .
I stayed at Lake Balaton while travelling though that part of Europe after graduating. I was with a couple of friends in a bar, when the man next to us dropped his hand gun on the floor.
I don’t remember what the wine list was like.
Do you know where you are staying?

I have not really visited any wineries in the last 15 years, but you will have some good wineries that you could visit from Fured. The closest would be Figula (in Fured itself) and Jasdi (in a Csopak a neighbouring village). I have been to Figula ages ago, when the founder was still alive and back then it was quite a commercial operation for the tasting… a lot changed since with the new generation at the helm and they also have a wine bar showcasing their wines. Jasdi is very well regarded, but I have no first hand experience.
One of my favourite winery visits was with Tamas Pince in Csopak also. I remember the wines were great and we were sitting with the winemaker’s mum on the terrace of their house enjoying some great home made snacks. Sadly their website is only in Hungarian, I am sure your hotel can arrange a visit for you.
If you are prepared to venture further there are lots of good wineries in Badacsony, Somlo and Koveskal to visit.
Many thanks for this information.
