La Primavera - Milan San Remo 2021 (Saturday) preview (moved to Sports Chat)

First true one-day classic of the season 299km and 7 hours of racing, but everything seems to happen in the last 20km with the final 2 hills: The Cipressa and the Poggio. Will the attacks stick or will there be a bunch sprint?

Favourites have got to include Mathieu van der Poel, Wout van Aert, and Julian Alaphilippe.

Amiss not to include opportunities for refreshment! Any thoughts on local wines? The TWS own label Cascinone Barbera d’Asti would seem a reasonable place to start, but maybe not at the same time as the riders!

Julian Alan Philip is made for this. Like his world champs victory - massive attack on final climb, solo to victory, brush carefully groomed facial hair on the podium.

A great wine route there.

I think my highlight of that route would be a Timorasso from Colli Tortonesi. There’s also all the lovely vermentino/pigato from the Ligurian coast.

7hrs racing? 299km? How close can it be? 2017 - hold my beer :grinning: So looking forward to tomorrow.
