Continuing the discussion from The Society's Community "How To" Guides:
The community is designed to be very easy to use on mobile. You do not need an app to follow the conversations, read and reply, however, there is an app you can use to ensure you get notifications.
Accessing the mobile site
To access the site, simply open your browser on your mobile and visit http://community.thewinesociety.com, or click on a community email on your smartphone.
The site will load and look very similar to the desktop, and you can access the navigation via the hamburger menu (three lines in the header) or the buttons at the top of the page.
Note: to post content you will need to log in to your account, as on the desktop.
Saving a shortcut to your desktop
These browser shortcuts will act very much like an app.
On Android: when you are on the mobile site, click the three dot menu button in your browser, and “Add to Homescreen”.
On iPhone: when you are on the mobile site, click the share menu button (box with arrow pointing up) in your browser, and “Add to Homescreen”.
Install the Discourse App
While no app is necessary to use the site, the benefit of installing the Discourse App is that you will receive notifications of mentions, messages and new content on your mobile just as you would on the desktop. In fact the app will still use the local browser in any case.
The site software is Discourse, so open Google Play or iTunes and find the “Discourse” App.
Once this is installed, add a new site by clicking on the + icon, typing in the site address, and clicking on the ‘connect’ button to log in.
