Everyday Italian reds from TWS?

Hi,

More time than not I am looking for food friendly Italian reds to match pasta, lasagna, pizza, burgers. Good acidity Italian reds do the trick. What are some sub £12.50 Italian reds from TWS?

Thanks

I’ve found both the society’s Montepulciano (The Wine Society | Free UK Delivery) and Barbera (The Wine Society | Free UK Delivery) to do that job very well.

Looks like you’ll have fun working through a mixed case😃

I always love an aglianico. This one is great value.

At the risk of stating something you know perfectly well, are you aware of all the filter functions on the website? I know I didn’t come across it for quite a while.
You can filter by country, colour, price, food matches, alcohol, etc, etc. Apologies if you know this already but thought it was worth mentioning just in case.

Oooh, yes. That’s another lovely wine.

I’d second @strawpig’s recommendations.

I think it’s worth keeping an eye on the website for the Barbera’s in the £10-13 range.
I’ve just placed an order for the Nadia Curto one but have previously bought:

£12.95 and it was excellent

£13.50 - not tried yet but expecting good things.

But you need to be swift as they don’t hang around too long. Probably everyone drinking them while they wait for their Barolo/Barbaresco to mature!

Since April 2006 we’ve had 429 bottles of this no-brainer™
2019-Montepulciano

and I’ve got another 15 bottles in my ready rack.

Maybe it won’t be a no-brainer™ for you, but I think you should at least try it at £7.95

I agree, and have tried it many times. But I think the extra 55p is worth it for the Corvino (see above).

We tried the Corvino when it joined the list. They said the winery had been set up by the winemaker who made the Society’s Montepulciano after he left Roxan. We preferred the Society’s.

But I suggest @pred02 makes up a mixed from suggestions here and finds his own favourite or favourites. There are many good Italian red on TWS’s list; we also enjoy the Curto Barbera.
