Two word answers ONLY please! What meat/or vegetarian food are you having for Christmas Lunch and which wine to accompany it?
example:
Turkey + Pinot Noir
As noted Turkey + Pinot Noir ( society California)
Christmas Eve - Porchetta and TBA but leaning to a Vaqueryas
Duck + SA Pinot Noir
Turkey and Vacqueyras Blanc
Beef & Gigondas
(Christmas Eve, Swedish celebration - Julbord & Crozes Hermitage Blanc)
Probably…
Gosh - I’ve barely thought about it.
We’ve only heard today of Govt Covid arrangements for Xmas, now hoping our son will join us from Wales.
Only thing I’m certain of is it will be an evening meal, not lunch
Christmas Eve
Local scallops, langoustines and lobster.
Christmas Dinner
Local free range turkey
Boxing Day
Roast Rib of Beef
I really look forward to Christmas every year.
I do not drink or eat OTT, in the few months prior to the Festive Season.
And then on Christmas Eve, the brakes are taken off!!
Goose + Vosne-Romanée
Sorry to ignore the rules @AnaGramWords, but I’m certainly not the first!
We’ve been thrown into a quandary. Bubble of 3 exclusive families will make it rather complicated and we don’t think we’ll be able to do what we normally do with either of our immediate families. Might just be us 4
Might get a couple of turkey legs for the kids to gnaw with watered-down Beaujolais villages while we share an extravagant hunk of aged Galician dairy cow with an old Malbec or Northern Rhône
No idea yet!
Mmmmm! I thought the two word rule might not endure with you lot!
To be fair you used three, so there was no shining example to follow
Ooppsss!!
As things stand it’ll be:
Christmas Eve - lobster thermidor and white Burgundy
Christmas Day - rib of beef with Bordeaux and Chianti
Boxing Day - turkey and more white Burgundy and Chianti
Turkey + Magnum
Current thoughts are Christmas Day: Turkey & Ham + Magnum JJ Prum Riesling Kabinett 2014 + Leflaive Oncle Vincent White Burgundy 2017 and/or Bruno Clavelier 1er Cru les Corbeaux Gevrey Chambertin 2014 and then
Sorry, 2 words doesn’t seem possible
Turkey and PN ( not decided yet - SA or Oregon)
Sorry - not 2 words
Like others, Christmas Eve is our extravagant night - I can’t stand turkey or people guzzling red wine with Sherry Trifle - so likely to be:-
Pessac Leognan + Seafood
Barolo + Roast Mallard
Dessert + Klein Constantia (nailed the three word rule there )
On Christmas Day, so far:-
Pacherenc du Vic Bilh Sec (is 4 words on its own, so shoot me) with ‘fish’ (TBC)
We may be distributing to 4 separate households yet for a Zoom Christmas, so plans remain ‘elastic’ based on numbers, and depending how generous a mood I wake up in a week out from Christmas.
(For clarity, is the punishment for digression based on size of said digression , or merely the act alone? Just wondering whether I need to do a word count )
Turkey & Viognier
Goose and tbc [suggestions welcome!]
