Chester Osborns Dinner on Monday 23/7/18

Thanks to Tim and the tastings team for a splendid do at Sager & Wilde on Monday. It was a very hot night, it was relaxed & fun. Thirsts were quenched.
The set up on long tables worked well for us meeting other members & discussing wine, food, life oh and wine.
Chesters perorations from the balcony were as he always is enthusiastic and knowledgeable set off with his great taste in shirts. Gosh he knows his own vines wines and land. Some of us rose to the occasion with our own gaudy shirts in tribute.
Of the wines, the d’Arenberg White Ochre 2017 was a good sipper to start prior to the dinner. We must get some for that very purpose. Outstanding for us was the d’Arenberg Dead Arm McClaren Vale Shiraz 2009 and the d’ Arenberg Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon 2005. The desert wine that has a rude name finished the evening. We didn’t want to leave for the joys of the Central Line.
During that hot day members were obviously inquiring of Tim and the tasters about what to wear - his answer by email was a Wine Society classic - here’s an extract
‘Thus shorts and other cool clothing is perfectly acceptable attire. We will however have to draw the line at speedos and bikinis’ . Happily this was was adhered to.
Thanks again for the evening, now to put the wines on my wish list.
all the best
