This is on sale in our local SuperU at 25€, which looks pretty good value. Any good? Buy or not?
Worth a punt for a 5eme!
It received 90 points from Decanter and has very good ratings from drinkers at Cellar Tracker (average 89.4 rating). It’s a very good vintage for Bordeaux and the price is very competitive for a classified wine. What’s not to like? Go for it or them!
Parker says 90/100 and Jancis Robinson 16/20. On sale in the UK for £34 per bottle taxes paid.
I loved the 2009 recently, I say go for it!
Thanks for all the feedback. I’ve bought three. Now I just have to wait a few years to see if I have actually got the bargain I hope for.
Think its a pretty good punt at 25 Euros
@Prufrock quoted me in the Bordeaux 2018 thread the above.
TWS quoted the following EP:
Château Belgrave, Haut-Médoc £98
Still one of the best-value classed growths, notwithstanding the considerable investment in the vineyards and cellar by respected négociant Dourthe which manages the property. The 2015 reveals hints of damsons and cloves on the nose, with appealing freshness and lift on the finish. 2023–2034.
Quite an extended drinking window.
Having said all the above, I think you’ve done well and I would have done the same!
