Cassoulet

It’s a distant memory for me too, it’s been three months since I had a sit down meal with anyone, and that was outside and socially distanced !

My flat feels more like a hermitage these days ( appropriate for a wine lover, mind )

It was quite good thanks. Trying to avoid smug, but chatting shit and trying to plan a holiday in 2021 was quite enjoyable, despite our different priorities.

The trou Normande was a new experience, which had to be repeated after cheese and will no doubt complicate me getting to work tomorrow morning.

The Gigondas was divine with cassoulet, but dropped off towards the end of the main course.

Top wine for me was the chenin.

I had a Guigal Gigondas a couple of years ago bought in a local supermarket and it was a tannic beast to say the least. It never ceases to amaze me what the French seem to think is ready to drink. Next time I have one I’ll be giving it a good 9-10 years. That one was only 4 years old and the blurb reckoned it was ready!
