We hope to find ourselves in the Bergerac area in early June and I’ve noted your recommendations.
Yesterday we visited Monbazillac and had a stupendous tasting at La Maison Vari, so thank you to those who recommended it. We bought so much of their elixir that we qualified for a free gift of - a bottle of wine!
We also visited Chateau Tour des Gendres whose wine is stocked by TWS. We can heartily recommend their La Gloire de mon Pere red. We tasted and bought the 2015. Their basic Bergerac rouge had a lovely fruity bouquet but was very tannic. We also tasted a bottle of their petillant which they described as being made like beer, complete with cap instead of cork. Fun!
SE of Bergerac near Catus (NW of Cahors) is a great 2 star restaurant in a tiny village. Worth a visit if close. Might have to book in summer.
We ate there. Utterly sensational!! Below are my starter (foie gras a number of ways) and a couple of the desserts,
