I only went for the two cheapest, which weren’t much more than the full case prices from Goedhuis. I didn’t want to stretch to full cases, without being sure that they are to my taste. At those prices, they were well priced for wines from Marsannay. How much are they in Costco, @Joni-B73F0?
I can’t remember, somewhere around £26-32
I think we have enough Marsannay with Sylvain Pataille and Ch de Marsannay.
Although Ch de Marsannay is excellent people tend to buy Pataille’s wines first so we sell less Ch de Marsannay. Adding another producer would only exacerbate this trend I think.
hahahaha templeton that was quick! tbh i’m just surprised you hadn’t heard them before - it feels a bit weird, this reversal of roles. I don’t like it!
fair dos, toby. i’ve got ch de marsannay favieres, looking forward to that. and i’ve got a few of those perraults which have been left to languis! they’re in my basket, just waiting on payday to see whether i can squeeze them in.
Hopefully a bit of community service this morning - just spotted the Pataille Aligoté mixed case go up on the sitehttps://www.thewinesociety.com/product/pataille-aligote-case
24% increase on the previous vintage, which was £139 for six, including two of the ‘normal’ aligote. Don’t suppose that will stop it selling out quickly though!
My wife said ‘Non!’ at that price, and she loves aligote.
Might have bought a couple of Clos du Roys if offered separately.
2020 was great for aligote but with the price hike I think I’ll only be getting a single bottle unfortunately.
His price increases have been some of the most extreme I have noticed in recent years.
Some of the wines were underpriced compared to quality previously though.
Yes, he has been catching up rather steeply since 2019 now…
Just bought a case. Spur of the moment; not even sure I’d like Aligote. Now sitting on decision re Jacquesson 746…
Does anyone know if TWS ever offers Chablis Grand Cru wines outside EP? My occasional searches to look out for it never show anything beyond 1er Cru. Nothing wrong with those of course, but just wondering about Grand Crus.
I can’t say I’ve noticed them recently, a few years back they popped up now and then. But then they do very little grand cru white burgundy of any sort these days. I wonder whether they have never really came back after the premox scandal.
Or maybe just too expensive for mainstream interest? Even e.p. They were I think £50++ and recent vintages were tiny crops
There seem to be plenty of wines listed over £100 a bottle so I doubt it’s just cost. As an aside I am surprised how many of the most expensive red wines listed are not from burgundy or Bordeaux but the Rhône.
Purchased a couple of 2019 Williams Fèvre GC Chablis in August last year from TWS. Not seen any this year.
Thanks for the replies about Chablis GC, a shame but I guess I will have to look elsewhere.
Can anyone recommend good retailers for Chablis GC? I’m looking to be able to buy a couple of bottles rather than have to take cases of 6/12, though would be ok if I had to make up the numbers to a minimum spend or self mixed case with other wines. Also something with a bit of bottle age that would be at, or close to, its drinking window (I do have some, but it’s 2019 and a bit young for opening yet, I think).
Many thanks for any thoughts.
L&W have some Chablis GCs in stock, but @ eye-watering prices
Thanks, a few that look tempting, though I’m a bit wary of L&W delivery at the moment, especially as quite a few of these are “from a client”, so who knows when I’d get them…
