Bohórquez 2010 offer

Missed the 2010 offer. Have bought what I think was the last of the 2009, and have been enjoying it.

I’d be surprised if it doesn’t also turn up on the main list sometime soon, so there’ll be another chance.

I took my case of the 2010 out of reserves before Christmas and opened the first bottle a few days ago. Some seepage and the wine was past drinkable. I haven’t tried any of the others yet. Anybody had any problems with theirs?

It’s out on general release on the website, can’t see any issues in reviews so far

I have consumed two bottles so far, both very good.

My first bottle back in September was poor:

I spoke to member services and they refunded the bottle straight away. The second bottle, to my great relief, was delicious, so I left it at that.

Me too.

Worth a punt for 6??

I had a bottle a few weeks ago and it was pretty good. If this is your style then definitely go for a case of 6.

My first bottle was lovely the second rustic, overripe and not much fun. I suspect variations in bottles or my tasting🤣

Thanks all, an interesting range of responses. We opened a second bottle last night, partly encouraged by others’ experiences. Much better, in fact very enjoyable. A modern tempranillo - the Bordeaux end, as I think of it - lots of tobacco and rich fruit.

A quick update for anybody interested in the progress of this wine - we’ve now had two good and one duff bottle (immediately refunded by TWS) and the good have really been very, very good. Still lots of fruit but the secondary flavours are prominent. If I can keep my hands off them I’d like to give a couple of my remaining three bottles a few years to see how they get on, but really there’s no need.

Another tempting entry added to the Wish List. Interestingly, it’s now a whole British pound more…

It was only the end of last year I picked up Bohórquez 2007 in a vinissimus sale

3 u. x 14.97 EUR

44.90 EUR

With a 20 eur discount voucher on top of the above price as part of a larger 24 bottle order.

Apologies for any unintended smugness, but the current price of £23/bottle makes the £80/6 ib I paid a couple of years ago look like a very good deal. I see it’s out of stock at the moment, so presumably TWS ran through its initial stock some time back and has had to pay more for more recent orders.

There’s no sign of the 2011 as far as I can see, based on a quick Google, and nothing on the producer’s website.

Yes, I was really knocked out by it when I first tried mine. (And my daughter’s tasting note was, “This wine is like a silk trader with a dark past.”)

Yum, mine arrive on Wednesday.

I thought I’d drop the producers a query. Apparently the 2011 will be released in 2022. They say it’s a good vintage but not ready to go yet.

I do buy and enjoy the thrill of en primeur, but I also thank the wine gods for the Spanish tradition of not releasing wines till they’re genuinely ready to drink.

Just had my first of the 2010s. Having also had the 2009 and loved it, it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. 2009 was very soft with fully resolved tannins. The 2010, albeit only one bottle tried so far, seems much higher acid. Perhaps some VA as there’s something a bit reminiscent of Musar there, but not in a good way.

I’ve not cracked in to any of mine yet, but am increasingly concerned - from what we’ve been saying here it’s got Musar (of old) levels of bottle variation.
