Aussie wine documentary on BBC4 iplayer

Looks worth a watch…

That’s tonight’s TV sorted :+1::blush:

Watched it last night. Informative but a little gimmicky

Was nice to see my ex boss the late John Avery there. Agree its a bit gimmicky, but then most wine docs are.

Thanks @NickFoster. I’m off to watch it now :wine_glass:

do we know if it is an updated version? I first saw it a long time ago

On a different tack did you know the team who owned Howells of Bristol, run by Jim Hood and Rod Holt, decamped to Wickwar in the 90’s and sold out to Lay and Wheeler later?

Enjoyed it (though even after only eight years it was a little dated). My favourite bits involved Jean-Luc Colombo and his daughter (Laure?). The expression on her face whilst her father was giving his views was priceless! And he then returned the compliment.

No that’s before my time in Bristol (moved here in 2007)

No its pretty old as John Avery was interviewed and he died about 10 years ago.

It said 2012 in the credits James

Thanks for the heads up. although I’d seen it before, my memory of it was vague. It was like stepping into a time machine and being transported back to my earliest wine drinking days ( the mid 80’s ).

Couldn’t help but wonder what I’d make of, say. a Rosemount Show Reserve Chardonnay now though !

I did for a time love Wolf Blass’s Chardonnay, far too oaky for 2020 tastes.
