This evening we ate Steak Tartare and after a bit of thought, we drank a 2007 Ch. Haut-Bergey. It was such a good food and wine match with the list of ingredients that we always combine with the steak.
I can highly recommend a Scheurebe with the Chilled Cucumber Soup recipe from Yotam Ottolenghi’s book, " Simply". The soup contains a ginger which paired briliiantly with the fruity flavour of the wine.
Also worth noting that the 2021 Scheurebes from both Wirsching and Pfeffingen vineyards are particularly good. Intense grapefruit flavours with wonderful acidity. If you find any…grab a bottle quick!
